95 S-10 "sputters, bangs, stalls"

Have a 95 S-10 w/230k orig miles (yep, really). Replaced fuel injectors at about 140k.

thought might be bad gas. Refilled tank. Tried again. Hard to start, hit intake w/couple shots of ether. Engine fired fine. Drove for 10 minutes, no problem. Then sputter (pumping throttle didn't seem to increase fuel flow), for 1/2 mile, heard several "bangs" then stalled/died.

thoughts?
