1986 s10 engine idles rough after about 30 seconds of runtime. Engine light flashes sometimes while driving. When I check for engine codes all I get is 12. Why doesn't it give a code for the problem? Also I tried unplugging the map, tps an 02 sensors an driving it an the light didn't do any different an no codes were stored. It has new airfilter. Plugs, wires, distributorcap, rotor button, egr valve, fuelpump fuel filter, airtemp sensor, an map sensor

If you ae getting a code 12 then it is a basic problem concerning tune up or a valve problem. A compression check should tell you fi its a valve problem or not. Also the TBI if it has one may be getting power but not working. That you can see with fuel spraying into it. One other thing is that the vacuum line going to the map sensor gets soft and leaks. As well as the base gasket of the TBI unit blows out and leaks.

Went to the junkyard an got a computer out of an 88 s-10 blazer. It solved all the problems. I figured if I could unplug some of the most important feed back to the computer an that didn't cause a code. Then the puter had to be at fault.
