2003 Chevy Malibu: I started to have problems with my ignition turning to the off position until last night when my key stopped turning all together. Can I replace just the cylinder or do I have to get a whole new ignition and have it programmed by the dealer? Also, could this problem be caused by the cable running from the shifter to the ignition being damaged or streched? If so, please give me a little walkthrough on how to go about repairing that (The reason I believe this might be it is because I have had problems getting the car out of the park position).

It sounds like it may be your park position switch. Usually there is a small opening on the bottom of your steering column with a tiny cover over it. If you remove this cover, you can insert a small screw driver and manually release the ignition lock solenoid. This should allow you to remove your key until you get it repaired.
If the key release solenoid does not see the shifter in the park position, it will not release the key.
