Good Day I have a Chev Tracker, the service engine light came on, read the owners manual and it said if this light is not flashing(which it is not) then there is no major problume just somthing like maybe the gas cap not being put on tight. My question is how do I reset this warning light? The book didn't say how.
Also I do not want to by a scanner to reset this

Get it scanned for codes, it will tell you if there are other codes also, then they will reset it for you.

Take your tracker to Autozone or a place like that. Have them scan your engine. They will do this for free. Your check engine light must be reset using a scan tool, however, if it is on then there is a problem. The codes will tell you what the problem is and you can take it from there or let me know what the code is and I can help you. They will also reset it and the best -- it's for free.
