This is a k1500 pick up I replaced the throttle position sensor 6 months ago and now my check engine light is on again and I get the code for the tps again could the tps go out that fast or is there a underlying problem also the engine will surge when idling it did that b4 and then stopped when I replaced the tps thanks for your help

This could be a fix as simple as taking choke cleaner and cleaning the throttle plate. Also clean up the linkage as due to the mileage there may be some dirt/oil in the likage not alllowing the tps to work correctly. Also if this is the adjustable type it may not be adjusted right. Some have elongated holes for mounting and others do not they came both ways for a while.
