1990 Other Chevrolet Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1990 Chevy c1500 Scottsdale with a 4.3 liter v6 motor that I bought re-manufactured from auto-zone. When we try to crank it gas come out of the injectors but it will not stay cranked. We poor some gas in the TBI and after cranked if we keep it wide opened it will run but if we let off the gas it dies. Its in time new distributor cap and rotor with new cables. I've replaced the fuel filter, throttle body sensor, Put two new sensors on it all cables are connected don't hear any air leaks it just will not crank. The truck sit up for at least 3 years before we put the motor in if that helps any. Please give me a idea of what im searching for.

Check fuel pressure, because I am thinking that the fuel pump or fuel pump relay may be at fault here.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, the fuel pump relay is located in the relay distribution center, and the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail on top of the engine

Fuel is getting up to the tbi. My dad took off some of my new spark plugs and he said they would be white if they was firing but their black. They are new he thinks the old gas might have messed them up so he is gonna get a new set do you believe that could be a problem.

Sorry I meant fuel tank, and yes that is a good observation, the fuel may have degraded so much that it doesnt combust.
