My engine light has come on and I've gone to my mechanic to have the 'code' cleared. He told me it looked like I needed to have the O2 sensor replaced. My understanding of the O2 sensor is that is controls the fuel mix ratio. When my engine light comes on (as it still is doing), it seems to be affecting the transmission in that it makes a very loud 'clunking' sound when changing gears and runs terribly after that. I've bought the O2 sensor to replace it, but would like to know where I can find it (for one) and also, do I even need to change it? I'm also wondering if the clunking problem I'm having is something with the transmission?

Before I can give any answers on weather or not you should replace the O2 I need to know what the code it. So if you would call around to your local parts stores and see if one will do a free scan and have them scan it and write down the code and then have them clear the codes. Now as for the O2's there is more then on on this car there is before the cat and after the cat. Get back to me with what you find on the codes and we will go from there.

Hello again,

I've taken the car back to my mechanic and now he says the code is different this time. Now it's PO700, which apparently is a transmission code.
Does this mean I'll need a new transmission in the car?

This is a tranmission code and refers to testing the transmission control module.

I have the same problem almost 1 tiem a week it happens.
When I change from D to R it makes a sound and after it, the car runs like if it was always in 4th gear no power it acelerate very slow after turning it off several times and reving the engine it works normally.

Have you fixed the problem?

I took it to a mecanic and he said that the computer reads a transmision error that it might be the sensor but he wasn't sure.
