2002 Chevy Monte Carlo 6 cyl 101000 miles

my check engine light just came on, everything seems fine, I diconnected the battery and reconnected it and it is still on what can I do myself next?

Stop at your local parts stor and have them scan it. Let me know what the code is before you clear it. You may have a problem in your evap system causing the check engine light

I found out it was a thermostat stuck open[
