I changed to a HEI distributor and my old tach, made for point ignition died when i first reved up to 5000 rpm. I think too much voltage on the pickup wire. Now i ´ve bought an original Monte Tach from 1973. How can i hook it up without destroying it again?

Did you have old Tach hooked up to the tach terminal on the HEI?
