I am wondering if you can help me by telling me how to replace an ignition switch in a 2000 malibu?

Do you have a manual? The steering wheel and part of the column needs to be removed. If you have never worked with air bags, you need a manual or have it done by a trained tech. The airbag can deploy if you are not careful. For me to try and explain it via the internet allows too much room for error.
