1999 Chevy Malibu is it a main bearing?

Car makes rattle noise when RPM is between 2000 & 2500
this noise is new (it has typical lifter noise when cold)
i changed the oil & filter w/no help
i was told it sounded like a main bearing
is it worth it to fix if it is?

Hi there,

If this is a main bearing, it will be doing damage to the crank shaft and the longer you leave it the more expensive It will be to repair, I would get a mechanic you can trust to diagnose this first, a bearing failure is not that hard top pick up as the noise is quite distinctive.
