1996 Chevy Lumina secondary cooling fan wont work

my 1996 chevy lumina.the secondary cooling fan does not come on.i had to run the wires to the battery direct and it comes on when i hook the wires together..the primary cooling fan works with no problems.i was told that it probably the temp switch.could that be the problem and where is it located

Ok first I would like you to check the ECM/Ign fuse in the under hood fuse box it should be a 15 amp fuse. Then check the Maxi fuse number 1 60amp. Make sure there are good as these supply the power to the second relay that turns on the second fan. Now if these are good then we will check the fan switch and sensor and relay ok. You will need a digital multi meter to test these. Let me know what you find.
