Are you replacing the actual switch or just the lock cylinder (where key inserts)

Ok. I am having the same problem but mine is a bit difficult to fix, as the bolts that hold the steering column are stripped. How can I fix this? The problem started with the Starter, I had someone replace the starter, the battery, and then the ignition switch. NONE of these worked. I have even had the key re programmed because someone said the chip was bad, then paid over $200 for a new key that still wont work. I was told by the second "mechanic" that came out that my computer was fried.3rd mechanic said that was total BS, that it is a simple problem of improper placement of the ignition switch, that now I don't have the money to get fixed. Anyone out in the cybersphere know anything more or anything on this issue?
