1995 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Will start to crank. Will run for two or three seconds. Sounds like knocking or a belt flaping then it goes dead. Try to start again will not crank without pushing the gas. Samething happens will run for two or three seconds, sounds like knocking and then goes dead. Strong smell of gas under hood.

Don't keep trying to start it! Check the oil for the presense of GAS, you may have or are close to hydrolocking the motor. If gas is found in the oil, drain and change it and the filter, then have a look at the pressure regulator on the fuel rail, remove the vacuum hose, if any gas is in there replace it, then retry the starting. I hop it's not too late, knocking is NOT a good sign!
