2004 Chevy Impala ignition

The key would not turn- had it towed to a dealer- told 877.00 to fix ignition, switch, connector, wire burned out- I feel like i'm being ripped off- have there been problems like this before? Why is this not a recall issue?

This is not that common of a problem to be a recall. There must really be something blatantly wrong in many many cars for them to recall, even then its hard. You can try calling gm customer care seeing your vehicle is not that far out of warranty and sometimes they will good will the repair or split it 50/50 with you. Hope this helps
