2000 Chevy Impala windshield wipers

The windshield wipers were frozen to the windsheild, when I turned them on I had to physically unstick them from the glass. Now the wipers work just fine in all speeds, but when I turn the switch to the off position the wipers return to the upright position instead of down below the hood where they are supposed to be. How do I fix this?

CHECK IF THE METAL TAB IS BENT ON THE BRACKET, STRAIGHTEN IT OUT AND READJUST THE DISTANCE FROM THE ACTUATOR ARM TO THE METAL TAB. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE ACTUATOR ARM MUST CONTACT THE TAB TO PUT THE WIPERS LINKAGE IN THE RIGHT POSITION TO PARK

if NOT need new wiper motor
