How do you clear a check engine lite problem?

Before clearing the light, you should have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes. The light comes on when there is a fault. In order to make sure the light stays off, you must identify and repair the fault. Most of your big name auto parts stores will scan for trouble codes free of charge.
