I purchased car in February 2008. Ran great. Got about 31 MPG on highway on first tank of gas. Second tank of gas got 29 MPG. The problem I am having is a hesitation. This has happened about 6 times since I have owned the car. The hesitation occurs after backing up. Sometimes the hesitation occurs when backing up (I think this happened about twice). But the other times it occurred after backing up. I step on the gas and nothing but chugg chugg. After about 2 seconds the car is fine.

The car has not had a tune up since 64000 miles and 2003. The car had been siting since about 2005.

Check ignition and fuel pressure and make sure your air filter is clean and have your idle air control valve tested.
But go to these links to learn how to do these checks
