hpeater control that directs airflow. I believe it is a vaccum prolem. where do i look

heatIer control that direicts air flow also engine backfires. I beieve it is a vacuum hose. where do I look for this hose

I do not have access to a vacuum diagram
most of the time it's a thin hard plastic line running to a "T" fitting on the intake manifold.
