Chevy Celebrity, 1987, 120000, 2.8L, auto tranny

It shifts hard into 2nd or 3rd but after it runs fine down shifts fine and once it warms up it doesnt shift hard anymore. also if u stomp on the gas it doesnt shift hard... any ideas? someone told me to reset the computer but i dont know where that is.. help please

Reset the computer lol. I Have an 87' celebrity which I have done ALOT of work on myself and can't say Ive ever heard "reset the computer". if you figure it out and it works let me know.

I actually have/had the same problem. I tried changing the transmission pan fluid and gasket which is a "cheap fix" and somewhat easy to do. That made my transmission shift more smoothly. from 1st to 2nd was not so good before I did that, but after I had more confidence in my car and it runs a little better now. If you know that it has never been replaced and is above 100000 miles then Iwould replace that. Costs maybe 30bux (rounding up).
Make sure that when you take out the old filter you be nice to it because I broke it off in the hole. when putting on the gasket again follow the torque specs carefully too.
