Sluggish acceleration/back fire

My beloved 91 Chevy Cavalier has 180k miles and lately when I step on the gas it bogs down & will occasionally backfire. I can hold the gas to the floor & barely get her to move more than 25-30mph then whatever the trouble is seems to correct its self & returns to normal only to bog down again. I'm hoping it's just that she needs a new fuel filter.

Has the car had a tune up recently. How old is the fuel & air filter. Also I would get youre fuel pressure test done. Could also have clogged CAT Converter,

Also coil packs could be pushing weak current.
