1989 Cavalier 2.8 6cyl

My question is.. that I when I go to check my oil there is nothing on the dipstick and chevy tells me that I have the wrong dipstick in the car. So I ask them to replace it and they do not have one - I go to the wreckers and pull the dipstick identical to mine out of a 1989 6cyl car identical to mine except for location of dipstick - the wreckers car has the dipstick on the right, drivers side and mine is in the center front of the engine. Neither dipstick shows any oil.. yet there is 5 liters of oil in it - changed by a chevy dealer today..

Any ideas.. does chevy make another 2.8L engine that I should get a dipstick from or?

If the dealer cant resolve it with a replacement, What I have seen done is get one that is long enough. Put exactly what the specs call for regarding theoil capacity. Check the level with the replacement indicator and mark that spot. Keep it within a half inch of that mark.

To mark it, use a file that can cut a Vee into it.
