2004 Chevy Cavalier thermostat

My temp gauge is is giving me all different readings everyday.

That could be part of the problem, but what tells the sensor how hot the coolant is, will be the engine coolant temp sensor. Because the thermostat is such an inexpensive fix, I would replace it anyway just for good measure and we are changing seasons. But if that doesnt fix your problem then the ect is the culprit
