Engine Performance problem
2001 Chevy Cavalier Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 35,000 miles

We took my daughter's car to Auto Zone because her check engine lite came on. The readout said EGR system fault. The attendent said to remove and reinstall the EGR valva and it would probably reset it being there is low mileage on the car. Where is it located? Please advise. The two of us (females) would like to do it ourselves but don't know where to begin. Thanks, we look forward to your reply.

The EGR is located on the intake manifold, you will need a new gasket from the auto part store because you will have to take it off and scrape down each surfaces with a plastic scraper and put on the new gasket because when you take it off the gasket cant be reused.

When you go back to the auto part store to get the gasket ask them what it looks like or if they could kindly show you where its at!
