My 2000 z24 has a weird sound from what seams to be coming from the valves. It is kind of a wurring sound but only can hear it above 2300 rpm's. You can not hear it until the car warms up and seems to get better if I put engine treatment in but gets loud again in a few hundred miles. Also it seem to realy hessitate and almost start to jerk when I accelerate in fifth gear but not always.

Hi: Based on what you are saying, it sounds like a bearing problem. If the sound is coming from the engine's top end, it may have something to do with the cam bearings, lifters. It's hard to diagnose an engine sound without listening to it. But if it gets worse when the engine gets hot, that is when it the oil thins and the additive does the same.

As far as the 5th gear hesitation, try going to a nationally recognizd parts store (Advance, Auto Zone.), And have them scan the computer for trouble codes. It's usually a free service, and it may help us identify the problem.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
