1997 Chevy Cavalier thermostat housing

Located at the left side of engine next to power steering pump, >>Question>>> what size are the bolt heads, I am haveing a problem removing them, seems they are put on with an impact wrench, what am I missing?

Use a 6pt socket and spray the bolts down with PB Blaster and let the set for several hours.

The bolts would be metric heads and they are probably rusted (it is also possible they are Torx, a star shaped female insert). Don't be suprised if they break, but the PB Blaster will help.

When you get them out, if they go into coolant passages coat them with sealer, or antiseize if they don't.
