Hi my name is coby and I was wondering why my car shuts of at random times, like it works for a couple weeks then it will start acting up on me and I shut it off for a minute or two and it will start and run fine for awile. I talked to a couple of people and they were saying it could be the cam or crank sensor and I took it to auto zone to use the obd 2 and that wouldnt work as well so if you can help me or at least point me in the correct direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you are getting a check engine light, most autoparts stores should be able to give you the error code number and a partial diagnosis.

If engine loses ALL power and windshield wipers do not work, radio etc. Then it is most likely an ignition switch, neutral safety switch and a few other possibiities.

If just engine loses power, then could be cam sensor, ignition module, fuel pump/relay.

During one of these events, try spraying some starting fluid in engine throttle body, if it runs a few seconds, then problem is fuel related, if not then ignition and other items mentioned above.
