1997 Chevy Cavalier BATTERY LIGHT

Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 122K miles

The battery light comes on when I start and stays on especially when I accelerate over 35 miles. The battery was bought in March 2005.

Now also the ABS light came on steady.

What can I do about the battery?

Hi there,

This will not be the battery, get the alternator charge rate checked as if the charge rate is to low this will bring on the battery (charge ) light, start here.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. In fact I had the alternator checked for "healthiness" and it was almost at 0%. So, I now have to replace the alternator, sigh, and be out about $250. Oh well.
