Yesterday, my car suddenly stopped having the ability to accelerate. I was exiting from the freeway, and heard a sound like a piece of heavy metal in a dryer. Like a piece of the engine just canme undone and started jiggling freely. Now I can't accelerate, but the speedometer goes up when I press the gas. Also when I shift to park, the engine makes a similar but less intense sound.

Is that going to fix it? I really don't know anything about cars and I would take it to a mechanic, but I'm in college, out of money. Ect. I just need to get it running to get to school and back every day. So could you please explain to me what that's going to do?
