1989 Chevy Cavalier 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic n/a miles

my 2.8l engine is blown and I need a replacement. But I wanted to put the early 1990 3.1l in it instead of the 89 2.8l. Will the engine mount to my transmission if so what parts will I have to install to get it running?

First, we recommend only direct fit replacement parts. As far as the engine, there are so many things that will need changed, it isn't worth the effort. As far as the mounting of the trans to the engine, if I recall, they have a different bolt pattern.
