My 68 Camaro heats up on highway.

I have a 68 Camaro with a 350ci engine with a lot of upgrades. It has an automatic Turbo 350 transmission. When I drive on the highway at about 70 miles per hour it feels like the engine is at high revs (i dont have a tach but you can here/feel it) and the temperature starts rising quickly. Could my differential's gear ratio be too high? Would getting a 4 or 5 speed transmission fix this problem?

If the tranny is good t-350 is fine. Rear end gears meant for a track, used on the highway will destroy a lot!
