1999 Chevy Camaro Engine Locking Up

My car stopped this weekend and my step-dad says that the engine may have locked up, because when he checked there was no oil in it. When I try to start the car it just clicks like when the battery is dead. He checked the batter and he says that it's ok. I get my oil changes regulary and when I checked it, the oil was fine. Before it stopped the car didn't make any odd noises, nor did the oil light come on. Is there any clear clues I can look for will indicate engine lock up.
