I have a 1978 Camaro that has a 1991 Caprice engine in it (5.7 TBI FUEL INJECTION) the original Transmission just went out. And I found a really inexpensive Barrly used (8000miles) Transmission that I think might work (TH4L60E FROM 2001 S-10 TRUCK
4 SPEED AUTOMATIC, ELECTRONIC 700R) the TH4L60 Fits in the 1991 Caprice but the electronic version is for a later model caprice.
so my question is if my engine fits the original trany then could I replace the original with this one?

also the transmission I found Is Electronicly controled and OBD2 and the 91 Caprice engine is OBD1 so would that be an issue?

Your best bet would be to find an older 350 or 400 trans, it should bolt up to engine just fine and you wont have all the electronics to worry about. Only thing you need to be sure of is length of transmission compared to what you have
