1968 Chevy Camaro

Hello-- I have an 1968 Camaro RS/SS with a supercharged 427. My question is how difficult/time consuming is it if I actually wanted to remove the supercharger and just have the 427 without the supercharger. I'm not a person who works on cars. This is something I would have my mechanic do and I am trying to get an idea of how much work/cost is involved. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Actually, it's not difficult at all.

If you have the screw-type blower (Sits on top of engine), then all you have to do is unbolt it, replace it with a regular intake manifold, gaskets, carburator/fuel injection and air-cleaner.

The next step would be a tune-up. Because the timing and fuel delivery would have to be changed.

If you have a centrifugal blower (Is bolted to the front of the engine like an alternator), then all you have to do is unbolt it and reroute your air inlet hose.

Then of course you still need a tune-up.

With the first kind of blower, this should take no more that 3-4 hours. The price of labor will depend on the mechanic.

The second kind of blower should take 1 hour, 2 tops.
