I took my Blazer in for the state inspection and found I needed a new mass flow sensor. After the repair was made, the mechanic informed me that he couldn't do the inspection due to the check engine light still being on. Says there is a reset function that can only be done by driving the vehicle, but they have had no luck in getting this feature to reset. The shop has had the vehicle for 2 days now with no luck. What are they talking about and is there anyother way to reset this feature?

You can't drive the engine light out not possible at all. Now what you should do is call around to your local parts stores and see if one does a free scan. Go that store and scan the truck (write down the codes) then ask them to clear the codes, this will turn off the light. Now go get it smoged and if the light comes back on get it rescanned and get back to me with the codes.

Stood there while the technician hooked up the magic code box. No codes show at all, but check engine light still beaming away. State of VA says that as long as that light stays on, you can not do emission inspectrion.

So is did the computer talk to the scanner at all? Have you try to disconnect the neg battery cable and then turn on headlight switch and back off then reconnect the battery cable and see if it goes out. Otherwise has anyone check the gas cap to make sure it is on correctly as this will turn the light on too. Get back to me.
