Not sure it could be anything its a new engine. When you put it in gear you have to give it alot of gas in order to get it to move in reverse or drive once you get it going though it seems ok no fault lights now but had been and they told me then it needed a transmission sensor if thats it where is that located if that aint it then what is it.

If this happened when the new engine was installed it could be that the front pump on the trans was damaged. There are two drive ears that slip into the nose on the converter. They drive the front pump and your need to increase the rpms suggests that the pump may be losing prime because of pump damage. Should be able to test it with a pressure test at initial start. It will show you if the trans has pressure at low rpm.

I would run a code test on the trans and it should show you which part has a problem. It will show you what the pressure is as well. If a shop ran this test already they could tell you what it showed. There are a bunch of electronics in that transmission.
