1994 Chevy Blazer no 2nd or 4th gears

Recently my blazer lost 2nd and overdrive in the trans, I have replaced the trans fluid and filter and there was no change, there was no metal or anything in the pan when I pulled it off, the engine itself runs great just gets horrible gas mileage, any ideas on what could be cuasing this?

Sounds like the sun shell carrier has stripped the drive splines. Kind of a common problem with the 700R4/4L60E transmission. Rebuild or replace are about the only solutions.

Had the same thing happen to me on my 2000 model. The sun shell fails and transmisions has to be rebuilt.
