My 700r4 tranny is making a sound like a power steering pump that is low on fluid. It has the right amount of fluid and it does not smell burnt. It shifts normal and does not appear to be slipping. What could cause this and what do I need to do to fix this?

Could be as simple as an idler pulley. Remove your belt, and remove the idler pulley. Put your pinky finger in the hole of the idler (assuming you have thick fingers) and spin the pulley. If its bad, you will hear a grinding noise.
