1965 Chevy Bel Air V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, my front manual window regulators are becoming difficult to use through wear as the teeth and no longer meshing correctly. I do not believe that the manual regulators are available as an after market item (that l am aware of) and l am having trouble finding people who could repair them.

I beleive the regulator teeth would need to be welded and new teeth filed out

Do you have any suggestions?

Hey David63

I've had quite a few of these same worn gear sets. Even if you have the teeth spot welded and ground the drive gear and bushings will still be worn and sloppy not to mention the nylon guides. I have gone so far as to drill the welds holding the drive gear cover and replacing the head with a similar later version, most era specific full size chev cars and trucks use the same parts in the regulator assembly.

It's a lot of work, especially if most of the teeth are badly worn and would be very costly to have a machine shop spend several hours to attempt a repair ( key word here is " attempt " )

Best bet would be to locate a cross over reference guide and see what other models use the same regulator. Then you may have a decent chance to find a good used one.
