2000 Chevy Astro service engine soon light

2000 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My car has a service engine soon light on and I took to to have a diagnostic. Upon arrival the light went off, but I left the car to be diagnosed anyway. No codes came back on the diagnostic. I drove the car again today and on my way home the light went back on and is still on. What could this be.

Hi:
If the light is on, a hard code should be set in the computer. So, it should show up. The problem will most likely deal with a sensor. Does the van continue to run well when it's on? Regardless, if it;s on now, take it to a nationally recognized parts store ahd have them scan it. Most will do it for free. Let me know what you find.
