I heard an seen what looked like a spark coming from my steering wheel last night, then I smelled smoke. I just heard a little popping sound, what could it be. I then leaned on the steerin wheel to get something from the passengers side then I saw smoke coming from the steering wheel, what could itbe?
Thank you,

Actually, it could be several things. THere are several wiring harnesses that run in the steering column. The only way to identify where the short was is to remove the steering wheel and work your way through the column looking for problems.

Check all the things electrical that are on the steering column. Horn, wipers, signals, maybe emerg flashers, cruise control etc. .See if they all work, and check all your fuses. Chances are that something wont work, and a fuse will have popped.
