Suspension problem
1994 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I am considering buying an inexpensive Astro Van from a local used car dealer for occassional small boat towing (4000 lbs) . He believes there is a problem with the front shocks/struts, and need to be replaced. He doesn't believe it's a ball joint problem, as there is no telltale popping or clicking sound.

I haven't had a test ride yet, just curious about replacement costs.....thanks.

Hi:
What is the car doing that makes him believe there is a shock problem? Also, how many miles are on the van. You will need to get electric brakes for the trailer, and if it's an older 4.3L I don't know how well it will tow 4K pounds. Also, check for intake gasket leaks. They were common during the early 90's.

Let me know about the shock problem, and keep in mind, ball joints and shocks will cause completely different problems, so I'm not sure what he is talking about.

Let me know.
