Car wont Move when gear is engaged

Car was being driven home and I stoped to buy somethings. Upon starting the car and engaging it in drive the car did not move. The same also with reverse.

the only thing that came up is an info on the dash that says PRE SAFE INOPERATIVE.

please what could the problem be.

I feel that you will have to get a transmission scan done as there appears to be a fault there, best to get any fault codes out of the system first and address these, start here.
