Car turns off when accelarator is presed

When we bought it second hand all the basics "filters"etc. After 1000 mIles of use this fault started TO happen. Know as son as the accelarator is pressed it turns off. I changed the gasoline filter, I thought is could be that. Turns out that didn't make any difference.

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free. Also, I would recommend checking fuel pump pressure to confirm it is within the manufacturer's specs.
