Three days ago, my car suddenly switched off while driving along the road. It however traveled over fifty meters and went off again, and has been like this. A check by a technician revealed that a sensor linked with ignition process is faulty and needs be replaced. Please, is the diagnosis correct or not?

I am assuming that the car was scanned for codes and he came up with this decision so he is probably correct a sensor has gone bad causing the problem.
