I might be purchasing a used 2010 Volkswagen CC R-Line with 116k miles. I currently have a 2008 Honda Civic EXL Coupe with 111,000 miles. I like the exterior design, four doors, and economical engine (with way more hp than my Civic) but I am worried about the vehicles durability and reliability. I see a lot of people say they change bulbs a lot. Not too big of a deal. The engine with the turbo is what worries me a bit. Any advice on whether or not to purchase car (at fair price) is welcomed! And the owner is currently getting a few things taken care of at a shop before selling. Body is excellent with slight curb rash on rims. He is asking $6,250.00.

Let us start with the engine the high pressure fuel pumps go out on them the timing chain tension-er's fail and the valves hit the pistons then game over. The earlier dsg transmissions like that one the dual clutches go out and mech units what the transmission uses to shift fail. Those items are all big dollars also I some point the rear lower control arm bushings tear. If those have not been done then it is about due for them. Also, the valve cover leaks it is expensive to reseal. The water pumps leak a lot on them and the pump itself is all plastic and expensive just for the part. Also it is common for the intake valves to carbon up and cause miss fires then the valves have to be clean that is a expensive service. The transmission fluid gets changed every 40,000 miles and that is not cheap. I would stick with your civic.
