Car Barely Goes

1987 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS

Hi I just put a 1968 Oldsmobile 350 rocket in my 1987 cutlass supreme. The engine is in and running with the stock thm200c trans that was in the car before. When drive the car it barely goes. Was just wondering if its the trans or something else that could be the problem.

What did you change and not change on the motor?

Does it have a cat converter?

It has a cam in it and a high rise edelbrock manifold and a edelbrock 600 carb. No cat converter. In park the car sounds strong when reving it. But when drive I have to put the pedal all the way to the floor just to go 20mph.

Well it a auto trans and how could I found out if its starting out in first gear. It does have a kick down cable not the vacuum hose for the trans. The trans was good before putting the new motor in it just had no reverse.
