1983 cadillac seville with 86000 miles. I went to get my emissions today and I failed. My CO limit is 30.0000 and my car registered a 40.9401 which is too high. Any suggestions on how to bring that reading down would be much appreciated. Also my HC and CO2 both passed. Could it be my Catalyc converter? Help.

Sounds llike your converter wasn't or isn't working. Was the car warm when you tested? The converter has to be hot to work.
A catalytic converter should take that CO reading down to nearly zero.
Third, the engine should run better than that without the converter, it sounds to me like you should go through the ignition system and also replace the oxygen sensor iif you have one. The car should do better without a converter, and if you replace the converter you will be near zero.
