Hi, (modulated displacement failure). Is this something that I can replace, repair. Somewhat handy at things like this, or do I need to take it in. Or what other suggestions might there be.

any info is greatly appreciated.

Is that a 4, 6, 8? IE: variable displacement? If so Im amazed it took it this long to fail. There is a big connector on the transmission, try unplugging it, this makes it a V8 all the time, the only fix for that I have ever heard of, wrong execution of the right idea

Thanks. Yes it is that engine. I disconnected the connections on the valve covers. Will that work just as well. Do not need the cruise control if that is an issue.
