What is the procedure to get my compressor turned on so I can load refrigerant into system?

On accumulator pull plug off low pressure switch jumper terminals this will turn on comp if rest of system operational. Was system opened? Has it been vacuumed down?

The system has not been opened. It has been converted to R-12 at some time before I got it. It has not been vacuumed out. It did lose some pressure when I originally tried to load it and realized that it was not taking it in. It shut off do to low refrigerant as all cadilac's do.
Is the accumulator the large pill shaped piece that has the low pressure lines coming off it?
Is the switch located on the line or on the accumulator?

Large can thing switch on it or in low press line coming from it.
